The Four Elements in Astrology

The ancients saw the universe divided up into four elements - Fire, Air, Water and Earth. Absolutely everything they fit into these four categories. They then assigned three of the zodiac signs to go along with each of the four elements. Signs with fire have passion, belief system, very active and spontaneous. These are the Aries, Leo and Sagittarius signs of the zodiac. With earth, we have the most grounded, most stubborn, hard working, and practical signs. Earth signs are Taurus, Capricorn, and Virgo. Air signs are the intellectuals, almost unfeeling, the inventive brains of the universe. They are Aquarius, Gemini, and Libra. With water element, feelings and intuition run very deep. They are Cancer, Pisces, and Scorpio. We need all four elements to sustain life on this planet. That is often times why we choose a mate to make up for what we are lacking.
